Proceed now to visit one of the largest Roman catacombs, the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa which is believed to be cut for royal Pharaonic purposes and later has been romanized. The catacombs were used until the end of the 4th century A.D and were later abandoned. Six meters in diameter and about10 meters deep, surrounding cylindrical water well is the staircase leading down to the 3 floors catacombs.

Now you will be taken to the main corniche street overlooking the Mediterranean to have a blissful lunch meal (not included) composed of the freshest seafood in one of the most luxurious restaurants in Alexandria, you will be enjoying the view of the old harbor while having your lunch and drinking the lemon mint juice before being transferred to your hotel for check-in and overnight.

Have your lunch at the hotel and meet your tour guide and personal driver to start another amazing day trip in Alexandria, but today you will have a new experience very different than yesterday, as you will get to see the Citadel of Qaitbay which is built upon the ruins of the ancient Lighthouse Pharos from the seven wonders of the world which was demolished unfortunately as a result of a heavy earthquake that hit Alexandria during the 6th century and most of the buildings and monuments from the ancient city was vanished or drowned under the sea, there is no evidence about the exact shape of the ancient lighthouse, but the citadel was built by the Mamluk Sultan Qaitbay who decided to make use of the solid foundations of the lighthouse to stabilize a coastal stronghold against the Ottoman Empire.

On your way to Cairo, you will stop by the modern Library of Alexandria that was opened to the public in 1996 after the help of the coordination by UNESCO for the project that will never be as great as the old Library that was founded at the beginning of the 3rd century B.C by Ptolemy I, and enlarged by his successor and son Ptolemy II.
